Our organization is involved in:
ACB is participating in building the capacity of Kasawo Area Cooperative Enterprise (KACE) to promote collective marketing.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
In Uganda, a big percentage of households depend on biomass fuels mainly wood and charcoal for cooking. As a result, households are finding that wood is becoming increasingly scarce, requiring more time and effort to collect; and also making issues of supply and sustainability critical.
ACB improves household energy through promotion of energy saving technologies and tree planting for energy provision.
HIV/AIDS AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH
ACB focuses on delivering services in the areas of HIV/AIDS care and support, prevention of infection, impact mitigation and HIV/AIDS Mainstreaming. Focus is put on providing financial and technical support to orphans and other vulnerable groups (OVC), and people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in the areas of nutrition, income generation initiatives
SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
ACB delivers a wide range of profession development resources and equips people with knowledge and skills on technical issues such as enterprise/ business management, community relations, organisational management/ development, etc. We specialize in;
a) Entrepreneurship/ Business management
This was designed to uplift the social-economic conditions of communities through provision of Entrepreneurship/ business management skills. ACB provides skills training to community groups especially women and youth to plan, start, manage and improve their Income Generating Activities (IGAs) as to enable them establish viable IGAs.
b) Vocational Skills;
Specialized vocational skills training is designed for out of school youth and low income women in partnership with selected local skills providers and apprenticeship centres. Also emphasis is put on providing career guidance and counselling to those targeted.
c) Organisational Development
ACB builds Individuals, Teams and Organisations to be the most effective, thriving, dynamic and creative that they can possibly be by equipping them with a wide range of professional skills and development resources.
Human Rights Promotion and Advocacy
In Uganda most people don’t know their entitlements and are ignorant about what to demand for, and where to seek support when their rights are infringed on, which is a major cause of poverty that needs great interventions. In addressing this problem ACB promotes and protects human rights through awareness raising and advocacy. It also provides skills and technical guidance in advocacy and networking by identifying advocacy issues, formulate Advocacy themes, strategies and action plans; provide information on relevant Advocacy networks and approaches.
We have carried out the following:
- Conducted training in Advocacy Skills for the district People Living with HIV/AIDS (PHA) Leaders in the two regions of West Nile and Karamoja of Uganda, supported by NAPHOPANU
Trained 113 women and men in gender and advocacy in relation to water and sanitation issues in Kawempe Division, Kampala District, Uganda. - Facilitated Integrated Community Efforts against AIDS (ICEA) organization and its stakeholders to identify HIV/AIDS advocacy issues in their area of intervention. Made an analysis of advocacy Issues and trained ICEA staff and stakeholders in advocacy skills.
